We had an exciting week at the school as Nickle hosted two nights of basketball on both Monday and Wednesday for the modified season. On Wednesday, the junior boys basketball played in a nail-biting game where they got the win by two points to a RT Alderman, a team they had lost to earlier in the week. Congratulations to all the players and to the coaches of the boy's teams (Mr. Hawkins, Mr. Syme and Mr. Shaw). On November 24, the girls are in action at Nickle. Come out and support the Wildcats!
Photo Retakes: A quick reminder that Nickle's Retake Photos are on Monday November 24th. Students that did not have a photo taken at our September Fall Photo Day AND any students that would like a retake will have their photo taken on Monday. There are 2 field trips on Monday for Ms. Auger's 6-3 and Ms. Wagemakers 7-2 classes. Lifetouch will be arriving early and will be ready for photos by 8:00 am for students in these two homerooms to get their photos taken before leaving school for their trip. Priority will be given to 6-3 first as they leave by 8:20 am. Students in 6-3 should come to the office as quickly as possible after arriving at school for their photo. We will then call 7-2 students to come down for their photos.

Nickle Gear Orders Have Arrived
If you placed an order in September for Nickle Gear. If students did not pick up their gear last week, please ask their PE teacher.
Grades 7-9 | Semester 2 CTF/Fine Arts Courses
Teachers and administration will meet again this week to finalize the courses that will be available next semester, after reviewing both teacher and student input last week. Together we will determine course offerings for Semester 2 CTF/FA courses (includes: Career and Technology Foundations (CTF), Fine Arts (FA), and PE Enhancement courses).
On December 1 to December 5, students will be introduced to the course selection process. This process will allow students to view the four CTF/FA blocks in their schedule for next semester, and see which teacher is assigned to each block. Ms. Craig will visit classrooms to explain the process.
Students will receive a selection form to take home, review with their families, and return by December 12. More detailed information will be shared next week.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Craig in the office.
OurSCHOOL Student Survey
Nickle School will once again be participating in an online school perception survey for students called the OurSCHOOL Student Survey. Grades 6 to 9 students at Nickle will complete the survey before November 27. The anonymous survey is completely voluntary for all CBE students. The CBE’s Education Plan prioritizes student voice and well-being in our decision-making processes. Responses from this survey are used at the system and school level to recognize and improve what is necessary for students to feel safe, welcome, and cared for when at school.
Students in Grades 6 to 9 provide feedback on: sense of belonging, positive relationships, anxiety, feeling safe at school, life satisfaction, general health, orientation to well-being, goal-oriented, self-regulation. and cultural awareness of others. Additionally, students provide feedback on: depression, self-esteem, cultural awareness of self. Demographic questions are also asked on this survey for norming purposes including age, gender, and home language. If you have any questions, please contact dccraig@cbe.ab.ca.
