Holiday Band Concert
The grade 7, 8, and 9 holiday band concert will take place on Thursday, December 11th at 7pm. Students should be at the school 15-20 minutes early to warm up their instruments. Students are also expected to wear their band shirts to the performance. Any family and friends wishing to attend are welcome. We are looking forward to spreading a little holiday cheer through music. If you have any questions, please email Ms. Milner: shmilner@cbe.ab.ca
Calgary Youth Science Fair (CYSF)
Participating in the science fair requires a significant commitment, but past participants have found the experience extremely rewarding and have benefited from the connections they made. The digital version of each project must be completed by March 4th.
We are excited to announce that Nickle students will have the opportunity to compete in the 2026 Calgary Youth Science Fair (CYSF). Based on the quotas provided by CYSF, we are able to send four Grade 6 projects and a total of six projects from Grades 7–9. Students may work individually or with one partner (CYSF does not permit groups larger than two).
Please note that the Science Fair is a multi-day event in April: April 9 – Project setup, April 10 – Judging rounds, and April 11 – Public viewing and awards ceremony
Students will be responsible for completing their project work at home, with teacher support and check-ins provided at school. Participants will also need to purchase a CYSF-approved trifold display board.
If students are interested in participating, they should attend an initial meeting with Ms. Burkell on December 11th at lunch in the library.
