Student Safety
When it comes to road safety near our bustling schools, each of us plays a crucial role. Taking a few extra steps to cross at the corner can make a significant difference. Rushing across the street to get to school or to reach your car may seem convenient, but it's important to remember the potential risks. School zones are filled with students, parents, and vehicles, leading to unpredictable traffic. By crossing at designated corners or crosswalks, you ensure better visibility for both pedestrians and drivers, reducing the chances of accidents. Prioritizing safety, even if it means a slightly longer walk, is a small but crucial step in protecting our Nickle students and others.

Picking Up Students Early
From time to time parents will need to pick up their child/ren early from school for various reasons such as appointments, sports, etc…
The office does not need advance notice of the pick up. Parents can either come into the office or you can call the office (403-777-7720 ext 0) when you arrive at school to have your child dismissed early. We will call students classrooms to have them dismissed.
Reporting Student Lates/Absences
Please be sure to call or email with your child’s absence or if your child will be late for school. It is helpful if parents can be quite specific regarding the reason for the late or absence.

Used Book Fair Information
Bring Us Your Used Books for Our Used Book Fair!
Do you have books at home that you've already read or no longer need? Instead of letting them gather dust, why not give them a new life and support our school at the same time?
We are excited to announce that the school learning commons will be hosting a Used Book Fair Fundraiser! This is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to clear out their bookshelves and contribute to a great cause. All proceeds from the fair will go towards enhancing our learning commons, providing more resources and creating a better space for our students to thrive.
How You Can Help:
- Save Your Used Books: Gather any gently used books that are appropriate for all ages. This includes children's books, young adult novels, adult fiction, non-fiction, cookbooks, and more! No textbooks please.
- Bring Your Books to the School Office: Bring them to our front office and let them know they are books for the book fair.
- Spread the Word: Encourage friends, family, and neighbors to donate their books, too!
Why Participate?
- Support Your School: Every book donated helps raise funds to improve our learning commons.
- Promote Reading: Help provide affordable reading options for our community.
- Sustainable Choice: Recycling books is environmentally friendly!
- Support Local Charities: Any leftover books will be donated to the Calgary Reads Big Book Sale, the RESET Society of Calgary Book Sale or other local charities.
Stay tuned for more details on the event. Let's work together to make this fundraiser a huge success!
