Hello Nickle families. We hope that the first week of school has been a successful one for all of our students. I know that our staff has been very impressed with the students so far this year both inside the classroom as well as students exhibiting traits of great citizenship around the school.

Being new to the building, I have been very pleased to meet so many students as I wander through the hallways and on the school field. Please encourage your children to come and approach me to introduce themselves when they have a moment!

Attached below are a couple administrative regulations from the Calgary Board of Education that we would like you to review as we begin a new school year. These administrative regulations are the guidelines identified by the CBE that outline the operations that support students, staff and parents.

Additionally, your child was provided with a series of forms this week by their homeroom teacher. Some of these forms are informative in nature but others must be returned to the school. If you have not done so already, please ensure that forms are returned promptly.

Two forms provided relate directly to Wildcat Athletics which are beginning right at the beginning of the school year:

  • Annual Authorization for Athletic Tryout - necessary for all students to try out for athletic teams within the Calgary Board of Education
  • Athlete Eligibility Confirmation – necessary for all females to try out for athletic teams within the Calgary Board of Education

An Important Message from the Nickle School Learning Commons

Welcome to the Nickle School Learning Commons—a place where students can read, learn, create, and socialize.

Our library collection includes a wide range of materials selected to be age-appropriate for our school population (ages 10–15). We are currently in the process of labeling resources that are most appropriate for students aged 13+ with the spine label shown below.

Because our Learning Commons offers a self-checkout option, staff are not able to monitor every item that students borrow. If you would prefer that your student not access materials labeled 13+, we encourage you to have a conversation with them so they understand your expectations.

Thank you for your support and cooperation as we work to ensure our Learning Commons remains a welcoming and appropriate space for all students.
