Wildcats Athletics
Please visit our the Athletics page on the website for information about teams and schedules.
Wildcats Welcome Week Spirit Days
Next week, we encourage students to dress up for the Welcome Week Spirit Days. Summer is over and school is started and we want to give students an opportunity to win some prizes and compete against other homerooms! Every day that a student participates in spirit day, they get an entry into a draw for a fabulous prize at the end of the week. Every participant also earns a point for their homeroom. The winning homeroom has the ability to play DJ for the entry music into the school for a week! The spirit days are as follows:
- Tuesday, September 15 – Wear your Wildcat Wear – if you own something with a Wildcat on it, wear it! If you don’t own something with a Wildcat on it, wear something that is Green, Grey and Black.
- Wednesday, September 16 – Say Goodbye to Summer Hawaiian Shirt Day
- Thursday, September 17 – Jersey Thursday
- Friday, September 18 – Wear Red and White to honour Terry Fox
Meet the Teacher Evening
We are excited to welcome all families to our school on Thursday, September 24th for our Meet the Teacher Evening. The format of the evening is as follows:
- 5:20 pm – Doors open
- 5:30 pm to 5:50 pm – Administration Presentation in Main Gym
- 5:50 pm to 7:00 pm – Meet Classroom Teachers Throughout the School
Please note that this evening is designed as an opportunity for you to place a name to the faces that your children are mentioning to you. If you would like to discuss your child’s learning more deeply, we encourage you to contact your child’s teacher through email.
An Important Message from the Nickle School Learning Commons
Welcome to the Nickle School Learning Commons—a place where students can read, learn, create, and socialize.
Our library collection includes a wide range of materials selected to be age-appropriate for our school population (ages 10–15). We are currently in the process of labeling resources that are most appropriate for students aged 13+ with the spine label shown below.
Because our Learning Commons offers a self-checkout option, staff are not able to monitor every item that students borrow. If you would prefer that your student not access materials labeled 13+, we encourage you to have a conversation with them so they understand your expectations.
Thank you for your support and cooperation as we work to ensure our Learning Commons remains a welcoming and appropriate space for all students.
Wildcats Physical Education
Grade 7-9 students need to be changed for phys ed class, that means changing into clothing that is different than the clothes they came to school in, shorts, jogging pants, tights or leggings and a shirt. Grade 6's need to be appropriately prepared with clothing that allows them to move freely. All grades need to have proper athletic footwear, no boots, crocs, flip flops or sandals. We are promoting a healthy lifestyle and part of that is promoting good hygiene. Students also need to be prepared to be outside or inside and come dressed for the weather, jogging pants, a sweater, hoodie, mitts and a hat would be appropriate for colder mornings when participating in outdoor activities. Feel free to send clothing you have at home or visit our online store in the link provided if you would like to purchase some Nickle athletic wear. The store will be open until 11:59pm on Monday, September 21st.

We will be focusing on cardiovascular endurance to prepare for our Terry Fox Run on Friday September 18th. If you would like to donate on behalf of the school, please click on the link below. Our total goal this year is $2500 after our amazing fundraising last year with a total of $2157.
