Dear Nickle Families,

A quick reminder that there is no school for students on Monday, October 19. Classes resume as usual on Tuesday, October 20.

Many School fees for this year have now been posted to student PowerSchool accounts. When you have a moment, please log in to review them, and we’d appreciate payment as soon as you’re able. If you have any questions or would like to talk about options, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the office. We’re always happy to help.

We’re also proud to share two student-led initiatives happening in our school community. Nickle Gives Back and the Jacket Racket, organized by our Student Leadership Club, are wonderful examples of our students stepping up to support others. You’ll find all the details below, and we hope you’ll join us in cheering them on!

Have a wonderful long weekend,

Randy Lewis

Nickle Give Back

Message from Nickle Student Leadership

Hello Nickle Families,

We hope you all have had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with love, gratitude and the cherished time spent with your family, friends and any loved ones. As we reflect on all of the things we are thankful for, we are reminded of the importance of giving back and supporting those in our community.

As we head into the colder months and temperatures begin to drop, we are excited to share that our school, grades 6-9 will be participating in the Jacket Racket Charity Donation Drive, between October 16-23!

This donation drive  is a wonderful opportunity for our school to come together and show our kind school spirit, as well as help keep those in need warm throughout the colder months. Our hope is that everyone in our community can enjoy a warm, comfortable, memorable and fun winter season, regardless of their circumstances. Everyone deserves to feel included and have access to the warm, cozy clothing attire they need to enjoy this winter season.

 HOW YOU CAN HELP:

We are collecting/accepting any clean and gently used:

  • Jackets/Coats
  • Snowpants
  • Mittens/Gloves
  • Toques
  • Scarves

Check your closets for any un-used winter outerwear essentials that could help keep someone else warm.

Spread the word to friends and family who may wish to contribute.

Students are welcome to bring their donations between October 16th and 23rd. Donations can be added to our Christmas tree in the front foyer, where we will be collecting the smaller items, such as mittens, gloves, scarves, and toques. Winter jackets and snow pants can be dropped off in the office where they will be hung by our amazing leadership crew on our designated coat rack.

Thank you for your continued support and being such a wonderful and important part of our school community. We look forward to seeing our awesome families come together to make a positive impact and spread warmth, kindness, and Nickle spirit!

With appreciation and gratitude,

Student Leadership Team

ACCEPTING DONATIONS!

We are excited to announce that our Learning Commons will be hosting a Used Book Fair Fundraiser! This is a fantastic opportunity to clear out your bookshelves and contribute to a great cause. All proceeds from the fair will go towards enhancing our Learning Commons.

How You Can Help:

  1. Save Your Used Books: Gather any gently used books, including children's books, young adult novels, adult fiction, non-fiction, cookbooks, and more! No textbooks please.
  2. Bring Your Books to the School Office by November 18.
  3. Don’t have any books to share? Donations are welcome: See the school office.
  4. Spread the Word: Encourage friends, family, and neighbors to donate their books, too!

Why Participate?

  • Support Your School: Every donation helps to improve our Learning Commons.
  • Promote Reading: Help provide affordable reading options for our community.
  • Sustainable Choice: Recycling books is environmentally friendly!
  • Support Local Charities: Any leftover books will be donated to local charities.

Let's work together to make this fundraiser a huge success!

Thank you for your support!

Wildcats Physical Education

Grade 7-9 students need to be changed for phys ed class, that means changing into clothing that is different than the clothes they came to school in, shorts, jogging pants, tights or leggings and a shirt. Grade 6's need to be appropriately prepared with clothing that allows them to move freely. All grades need to have proper athletic footwear, no boots, crocs, flip flops or sandals. We are promoting a healthy lifestyle and part of that is promoting good hygiene. Students also need to be prepared to be outside or inside and come dressed for the weather, jogging pants, a sweater, hoodie, mitts and a hat would be appropriate for colder mornings when participating in outdoor activities.

Transportation Safety Reminders

Please see the document below regarding some safety reminders for drivers and pedestrians around Nickle School. There have been a few close calls between drivers and pedestrians around Nickle recently and we want to make sure that students are safe crossing the road in front of the school.
