Changes to Teaching Staff and Option Block Structure

We are pleased to share that with the addition of new teaching staff; we can offer more choices for Grades 7 to 9 students across our 7-period timetable. The number of additional options will give students one or more choice over the 2 blocks where they have options, depending on teacher availability.

Option Block Structure by Grade:

  • Grades 8 & 9 will continue to be scheduled in option blocks together. However, students will not remain with the same class across both option blocks of the day.
    • Grade 8 students will have one block where all classes are in options at the same time.
    • Grade 9 students will also have one block where all classes are in options together at the same time.
  • Grade 7 option blocks will vary. The six classes will be blended across their scheduled option blocks so they are not always with the same group.
  • Grade 6 students will continue in a “wheel” format, traveling to their options as a group. This includes the required full-year Music course.

Student Option Selection Process:

To support these changes, students will be asked to complete a form indicating:

  • Whether they wish to continue in their current CTF/FA course or whether they are interested in additional courses offered during their option time.
Please note: the number of available choices will depend on teacher availability.

Key Dates:

  • Monday, September 29: Grade 8 students will receive their homeroom assignments through School Messenger. Included in this message will be information on their teachers and blocks of the day where they have options and physical education class.
  • Friday, October 3: Option choices for all Grade 7–9 students will be finalized through a digital Form completed in the school.
  • Monday, October 6: Students will receive their new/updated timetables.

Thank you for your continued support as we work to provide engaging and flexible learning opportunities for all students.
