CTF and Fine Arts
At Nickle, what we refer to as “options” is a combination of Fine Arts and Career Technology Foundations (CTF) courses.
CTF is a broad and flexible program of studies that allows teachers to design courses based on their professional expertise and the interests of students. CTF courses must connect to at least two career pathways, which means offerings can be highly creative and varied—for example, a construction course that includes a design component.
While we continue to make use of our traditional option spaces such as the Foods lab and Shop, the CTF lens encourages teachers to blend skills, career exploration, and hands-on learning in new and engaging ways.
Fine Arts courses similarly support student creativity and expression, giving students opportunities to explore visual art, drama, and music.
These programs work together to help students discover their strengths, build practical and creative skills, and explore potential future pathways.

Next week, students will receive detailed information about the Semester 2 option courses. They will receive forms that will include information to assist in making choices. The information will include: Course Descriptions/Teacher for each course available when they have option classes.
The information sheet will go home for parent signatures and conversations, so families can review the options together and support students in making informed choices. The final selection will be completed at the school with students filling out a Google form online.
